I like to give my fish a background, the realistic looking ones that go in the tank are very expensive, and in this small tank they would just use too much room.
Therefore I bought a background foil.
I couldn’t stand these for a long time, but then I found this piece that is just a picture of rocks, instead of the tacky pictures of Atlantis, of a picture of plants witch a much too blue background, which you often see in tanks without any plants.
I used this same foil on my large tank, and now, with all the plants growing in front of it you hardly see it. And if you do see it, it sort of looks natural.
It beats the hell out of looking at your white wallpaper thru the tank, and it does seem to give the fish a lot of piece. They used to hide more before I had it on my tank.
Plus it gives the impression of depth.
I glued it to the back of the tank with rubbercement, this way I can pull it of without leaving any glue on the window, or the foil. Since I don't have a lid that goes over the tank, I think It might hold for years if I'm lucky.
Pros: Cheap in comparison to any other type of background.
Goes on the outside of the tank, so it doesn’t take any room in your tank.
Back wall of your tank is easy to clean.
Cons: It’s not as pretty as many of the expensive backgrounds.
